The Burundi Film Center offers a variety of courses, subject to instructor availability. Since 2007, our students have learned about scriptwriting, cinematography, lighting, and post-production, with specialty courses offered on documentary filmmaking and animation.

Filmmaking 101

Our signature Film 101 course is a one-month intensive class that introduces students to the following key elements of producing a film:

Over the course of four weeks, all students will write a short film script - five of which are selected and produced into short films. View the films here.

Screenwriting: Masterclass (level 2)

Students who graduate from film 101, or who hold equivalent industry experience, can take a course of writing a feature film screenplay.

This 48-hour filmmaking challenge is open to anyone looking to get their foot in the door and try their hand at directing, acting, editing, or any other role on set.

Documentary Filmmaking: Master Class (level 2)

New for 2021 - Dr. Adama Ulrich from Germany gives lessons on documentary storytelling for film and television, using her latest project The World’s Most Dangerous Roads: The Banana Racers of Burundi.
